Ted Review, Dec 27, Soaring Eagle Casino, Mt Pleasant, Michigan

by Chris Starz

First of all, the casino was jammed packed, not only with the sold out show, but it's a week off for a lot of people.  While waiting in line at the coat check, Big Jim came by me!  I talked to him for a minute, shook his hand, and he walked away.  After checking my coat in, I ran into him again, and he approached me like a long time friend!  I got a pic with me and Jim (will send pics when I get them).  I also ran into Chuck Buzzy, Prez of TNKFK, and Charlie, Vice prez.  The also had with them Ed Peters, Pres of MidMich Safari Club.  Ed presented Ted a Check to sponsor 10 kidz for next year's Kamp For Kidz!  Ed is also involved in the SCI, which they want to form an alliance with TNUSA!  BTW, Charlie was at the black jack table, trying to make some money for KFK, after a while, was not to be! They did not allow flash photos, but I did get some anyways!).  While waiting in line for beer, I did see Sasha, but did not say anything as it looked like she was busy.

There was a montage video of Ted and Toby Keith in Iraq, with the late great Ray Charles' "America the Beautiful" playing.  Very moving, then......

Strains of Guitar, Bass and Drums blessed the stage, as a bearded Ted, with Tommy and Barry blasted out the intro!  Ted then led us to the Pledge of Allegiance, then a souped up Star Spangled Banner, then into Storm Troopin, Wango Tango, Free for All.  Then Ted dedicated Snakeskin Cowboy to all the personnel in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and the National Guard.  I was moved cuz most people do not realize that the Coast Guard is the 5th military service, and Ted remembers every time!

Ted then did KLSTRPHKY, and changed the lyrics to "MRRYCRSTMS"!   Crave and Rawdogs are Warhogs were next, and his voice during Crave was great, he can still scream!

His love song, Wang Dang was next, and he did the Nuge Blues to perfection!  A really pleasant surprise was Tooth, Fang and Claw!  Very emotional and the crowd was way into it!  It is one of my favorites!  Following Just What the Doctor Ordered, which Barry sounded much better than the Comerica Park show, was a new song, Still Alive, which was well received!

Following Hey Baby and Motor City Madhouse, the Motor City (Not Texan!) Madman played what I think was the highlight of the show, Baby Please Don't Go.  The Whackmaster did his guitar thing, but then let Tommy and Barry loose on this sold out crowd.  Tommy was drumming so hard and fast, that I had to hold on to my beer, as it almost shook off the table!  Barry's bass work has some of the top bassists shaking in their boots.  Tommy and Barry are now my favorite drummer and bassist!

Kiss my Ass was dedicated to Michael Moore, with an arrow to the groin on Saddam He'sane!  Cat Scratch, Stranghold and Buffalo rounded out the show.

As the strains of the feedback of Ted's guitar was humming, nobody was leaving, and soon Ted and boys came back onstage to do Fred Bear.  I don't know who was louder, Ted singing, or the 4000 at the casino!  As Ted and boys left the stage, I observed that most people were sweating.  There were total strangers hugging each other, kids high fiving, marriage proposals, hunting stories, and a total cleanse of the soul!  I was told that somebody seen Jennifer Granholm(Govenor of Michigan) , Kwame Kilpatrick(Mayor of Detroit), Al "Not So" Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Ingrid Newkirk (CEO of PETA), were all carried out in Gurneys, I guess that they could not take on the Full Bluntal Nugity onslaught!  Sharpton had his hands on his groin, thanking God that Ted did not take his little smoky away!

After the show, while waiting for my cab, Barry Sparks came by me!  I thanked him for a kick ass show, and got a pic of him and I!  Again, will send them when I get them!
